hey all, i have a slight problem.
I have some files on a compactflash card that i really want to get, but my card reader died. getting a card reader would take too long since i want the files with in two days or so. any ideas?

Well, My first thought is it depends on what you're using to put the files onto the card in the first place. Are you using a braillenote? Pacmate? other PDA?

The other thing I have to tell you is that not all cf cards are created equal. I coppied a whole bunch of stuff for one of my clients onto one, and we never got it off there. Fortunately, we had another one that did the trick, but it really scared me. Point I'm making is don't count the card reader out just yet.

The brand that most folks tend to recommend is sandisk, so I'd look at them for cards. Willie the Woof tels me they ae the most reliable. I know someone else who likes Lexar, and I hope I spelled that right.

Good luck.

Well, short of getting a card reader or putting them back into your notetaker or PDA, I don't have any ideas for you. I don't know where you're located, but if there's a blindness-rehab facility nearby, you might try that. You also might try some of the smaller computerstores, as they may be curious about blindness-related technology, and you can educat ethem, find a resource for yourself, and accomplish your goal at the same time.

Good luck.

Actually, I just had another thought. If your PDA or notetaker is internet-enabled, could you send them to yourself as e-mail attachments? Yeah, I know its a pain, and it'll potentially fill up your in-box real fast, but its one way to accomplish this.
